What to Do About Harmful Blue Light
The Problem with Blue Light Glare
Since it is emitted from many sources of light, glare is a frequent yet preventable issue for eyeglass wearers of all varieties. Televisions, laptops, tablets, smartphones… really any type of digital screen are responsible for digital eye strain, which manifests in symptoms such as headaches, eye fatigue, blurred vision, and more.
Glare is particularly a problem at night when you are working or reading under artificial light or spending time on a screen, as it is much more stressful on the eyes in dark settings.
The Visualites Solution
We apply an anti-reflective coating to our optical quality polycarbonate lenses, which blocks reflected light, resulting in less squinting while driving or working at a computer. This anti-glare coating almost completely eliminates glare by allowing more light and less artificial feedback directly into your eye from a single angle, combating eye strain by softening the glare and allowing you sharper visual acuity and more relaxation for the ciliary muscles. This means you can work or read longer with less strain than would be placed on the naked eye.
In addition to reducing external reflections on the outside of the lenses, an anti-reflective treatment is applied to the inside of the lenses also decreases internal reflections. One thing that can further reduce internal reflections is to keep the lights on when you are working on your screen, lighting your environment more efficiently and thereby reducing the effects of glare.
