What Power Computer Reading Glasses Do You Need?
Our Visualites C Computer Reading Glasses with blue light filtering is our fastest-growing line of glasses we carry. We started receiving requests for these about 7 years ago and after researching the different methods for achieving the correct amount of blue light blocking for optimal eye health we introduced the Visualites C (C for Computer) in 2018.
Bringing Your Computer Screen Into Focus
By listening to our traditional reading glasses customers we learned that many of you wanted this product to reduce the eye strain and other symptoms experienced from being on digital devices for so much of the day. Between working on a computer and engaging with our smartphones people can be exposed to blue light ten hours or more a day. By adding blue light filtering to our popular Visualites 8 model of lightweight rimless reading glasses we have created what we feel to be the best Computer Reading Glasses made. Not only are they lightweight but the flexible TR90 frames make them super comfortable and the durable tube case makes them easy to keep with you everywhere you go.
Benefits of Blue Light Blocking Reading Glasses
If you are reading this you are probably already aware of what computer reading glasses can do for you when it comes to protecting your eyes, but if you would like to know more about exactly what our glasses do to protect your eyes click here.
Reading Glasses Versus Computer Glasses Two Different Applications
A question we get often is do you wear the same power reading glasses for computer use as you would for reading traditional print material. The short answer is probably not. Most people will interact with a computer at a different distance then when reading a book, menu or magazine for example.
When using a computer users will usually be about 24 inches away from the screen while when reading a book users will usually hold the printed material about 15 inches from their eyes. This is important as the amount of magnification your eyes need to read clearly changes based on the distance of the material you are reading.
We recommend ordering your Computer Reading Glasses about half the power of your traditional reading glasses. So if you are using 2.00 power reading glasses then you would order 1.00 computer reading glasses. Simple!
So what if you are wearing 1.00 reading glasses? Well in our Visualites C model we came out with two additional lower power options just for this purpose. We offer the Visualites C in a 0.50 and an 0.75 option to accommodate those of you who need that small but of magnification and want the benefits of blue light filtering.
Having the wrong power glasses can cause more strain for your eyes so if you are unsure about what power to be using be sure to ask your eye doctor during your next eye exam.
What About Watching the Television
Another question we get is does the television have the same blue light affects as computer screens and do you need protection from that? Well yes in fact it does. So then the next question we get is what power should you use then as the TV is generally much further away then 24 inches. In this case, we recommend our blue light-blocking glasses without magnification. You can find those by clicking here.
We hope this helps answers any questions you have about ordering your next pair of computer reading glasses. If you have any other specific questions please contact me directly at customerservice@visualites.com
